Vue 180 Rooftop Bar was one of my favourite and most surprising rooftop discoveries on my sixth trip to NYC in October 2024. I hadn’t really seen the rooftop mentioned a lot online, so I was so happy to discover this refreshingly unique rooftop bar, so much so, that we actually visited twice during our 8-night stay in New York; both during the day and at night!
Located on the 30th floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square South Hotel, Vue 180 is one of the newest additions to the New York City rooftop bar scene, and it might just be one of my favourite hidden gems in the city!
If you’re looking for an epic rooftop bar in Midtown Manhattan that boasts awesome views of the New York skyline and serves some of the tastiest food of any NYC rooftop I’ve been to, check out my review of Vue 180 below!

Vue 180 Rooftop Bar Manhattan NYC

I’ve already mentioned that I think Vue 180 is somewhat of a hidden gem when it comes to the rooftop bar scene in New York City and I think that’s largely because it’s one of the newer rooftops in NYC (having only opened in October 2022).
As it’s also a rooftop on top of the Doubletree by Hilton New York Times Square South Hotel, I think that many people mistake it for being a hotel guest-only rooftop, which certainly isn’t the case, as non-hotel guests are more than welcome to visit!
Vue 180’s location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan means that it’s one of the best rooftop bars near Madison Square Garden, Hudson Yards, Bryant Park, Times Square, and more! Basically, it’s in a super cool location for exploring many of Manhattan’s top sights and attractions!
- Opening hours: Sun to Thurs, 3 PM to 11 PM. Fri & Sat, 3 PM to 12 AM.
- Website: Vue 180 NYC Rooftop Bar.
- Contact details: [email protected].
- Address: DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square South, 525 8th Ave, NY 10018.
Vue 180 Rooftop Bar & Lounge menu

*Please note that the menus and prices at Vue 180 are subject to change; I will endeavour to keep this review as up-to-date as possible with relevant opening hours, menu items, and prices!
Our first visit to Vue 180 Rooftop Bar was at around 9 PM on a Sunday, just after we’d enjoyed a spectacular couple of hours on the Circle Line Harbor Lights Cruise (remember, I said we visited twice in just one week, during the day and at night!). The rooftop still had a few customers, but it was pretty empty as it was a Sunday night, so we were treated to the best seats in the house (in my opinion!) which offered stunning views of the Empire State Building.
We were very kindly treated to some of Vue 180’s best dishes, including the loaded nachos platter, the charcuterie board, the crispy chicken wings, the beef satay skewers, and the tuna tataki.
My first impressions of the food at Vue 180 was that the portions were enormous! I know that the US is famed for its substantial portion sizes, but I usually find rooftop bar food in NYC to be a little stingy, and this certainly isn’t the case at all at Vue 180 Bar!
Our favourite dishes were the beef satay skewers (these were honestly incredible!), as well as the cheese and charcuterie board, and the crispy chicken wings. The only thing that didn’t really take our fancy was the tuna, but that’s because neither of us are big seafood eaters!

On our second visit to Vue 180, we headed to the rooftop at around 3 PM on a Friday and it was pretty busy, but we still managed to get an awesome seat in front of the outdoor heaters and with epic views of the skyline!
We also got the chance to try more dishes, including the lobster mac and cheese and the margherita flatbread, both of which were super delicious!
I also ordered a French 75 cocktail which became my favourite cocktail in New York after I first tried it at Mr. Purple Rooftop Bar, while Matt opted for the Honey Paloma.
The wonderful executive chef and Food and Beverage Director for Vue 180, Joab, also came out to see us and it was such an honour to meet the person behind the awesome food and drink at Vue 180!

The food items at Vue 180 are listed as “small plates” and while some dishes are pretty small (such as the tuna tataki and the beef satay skewers), the nachos, charcuterie board, flatbreads and lobster mac and cheese are all very sizeable portions and 100% worth the money in my opinion!
Here are some of the incredible dishes that we tried at Vue 180 and what I would rate them out of ten!
- Beef satay skewers (9/10)
- Lobster Mac and cheese (8/10)
- Crispy chicken wings (8/10)
- Cheese and charcuterie board (8/10)
- Margarita flatbread (8/10)
- Loaded nachos (7/10)
- Tuna tataki (3/10 – just because we’re not fans of tuna/seafood in general!)
Vue 180 happy hour

Most cocktails at Vue 180 Rooftop range from around $18 to $22, glasses of wine are around $14 to $18, and beers are around $10 to $14, so they’re certainly not the cheapest drinks in the city! However, the happy hour deals at this awesome NYC rooftop, just steps from Madison Square Garden, Macy’s, and Times Square, are some of the best in Midtown Manhattan!
Vue 180 pride themselves on offering a “reversed” happy hour, which means you can get discounted drinks, such as $10 cocktails, $9 beer, and $9 wine from 7 PM until close, Monday to Friday!
This is one of the best happy hours I’ve seen in NYC so far, as most rooftops only offer happy hour deals for a couple of hours a day, a few days a week!
Views from Vue 180 Lounge in Manhattan

While the views from Vue 180 aren’t necessarily my favourite rooftop bar views in the whole of New York City (and that’s only because I’ve been lucky enough to visit over 20 amazing NYC rooftops across the city!), I can’t deny that it offers some pretty epic vistas of some of NYC’s most iconic landmarks, including the Empire State Building, Edge/Hudson Yards, and glimpses of various other skyscrapers, such as the H&M Tower and Summit One Vanderbilt.
Vue 180 boasts remarkable panoramic views of Manhattan, both during the day and at night. If possible, I’d recommend heading there just before sunset (the time of which will, of course, vary depending on the time of year that you visit), so that you can see the city during daylight hours, at sunset, and as night falls.
