If there’s one view that I’m obsessed with more than anything else in the world, it’s the view of the Empire State Building in New York City. Despite seeing it hundreds of times from dozens of different vantage points, observation decks, rooftop bars and even just from the city streets of New York, it’s something that I will never, ever tire of.

So, when the wonderful team at Archer Hotel New York very kindly offered us a stay in their Archer King Empire View room, I was absolutely beside myself with excitement. Never mind the fact that Archer Hotel had been on my New York hotel bucket list for many years!

At the time of updating this guide, I have now been lucky enough to stay at this incredible hotel twice, and in my review of Archer Hotel New York below, I’m sharing everything you need to know about this incredible hotel, including the many different room types, an extensive review of the room we stayed in, as well as a glimpse at the fantastic Spyglass Rooftop Bar located on the 22nd floor of the hotel!

Archer Hotel New York review

I’m not sure I even really need to write a full review about Archer Hotel New York when the picture above speaks a thousand words; just look at that view!

Located on West 38th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, Archer Hotel New York is one of the most beautiful, stylish and super conveniently located hotels in Midtown Manhattan.

It’s just two blocks from Bryant Park (making it an excellent hotel choice for a Christmas trip to New York!), and it’s also just 4 blocks (less than a 10-minute walk) from the Empire State Building, hence the remarkable views of the iconic building from the hotel itself.

We only spent one night at Archer Hotel New York and while I could have easily spent an entire week there, we got such a great feel for the hotel in just 24 hours and it’s fast become one of my favourite places to stay in New York City!

Guest rooms and suites – Archer Hotel New York review

Archer Hotel New York Empire View

There are seven different room types (with 180 rooms in total) at Archer Hotel NYC, including the Classic Queen, Classic King, Double Double, Archer King, Double Double Empire View, Archer King Empire View, and Double Twin Empire View.

The rooms aren’t huge in terms of floor space, ranging from 178 sq. ft for the smallest room to 208 sq. ft for the largest room, but each and every room at Archer New York packs a punch in terms of facilities, comfort and views (if you book an Empire view room!).

Each room at Archer Hotel New York also comes with free Wi-Fi, a Nespresso coffee machine, free bottles of water and complimentary salted caramels, floor-to-ceiling windows, complimentary toiletries, bathrobes and slippers to use for the duration of your visit, a hair dryer, and much more.

No matter which room you book at Archer New York, you can guarantee that you’ll be experiencing only the very best!

Archer King Empire View

Empire State Building hotel view

As I mentioned above, we were very kindly treated to a one-night stay in the Archer King Empire View room and as soon as we stepped foot inside our room on the 20th floor of the hotel, I immediately burst into tears as I couldn’t quite believe the view out of the window…

I suppose I should have been prepared when I realised we were staying in an “Empire View” room, but nothing could have prepared me for the beauty that I was presented with when stepping into our room; that view of the Empire State Building truly is one of the best hotel views I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been lucky enough to stay in over 500 hotels and Airbnbs in 50+ countries around the world!).

The hotel room might only be 178 sq. ft, but it didn’t feel too small or cramped in the slightest; there is more than enough floor space to walk around the bed to the window and there’s also a small desk next to the closet (underneath the 42″ TV). I actually started crafting this post while I was sat at the desk because I was just so excited to share our stay!

While I’m personally not much of a coffee drinker, Matt (my boyfriend) was delighted with the selection of coffee pods available to use in the Nespresso coffee machine and combined with the mesmerising view of the Empire State Building, the morning we woke up at Archer New York is something we’re not likely to forget anytime soon!

The bathroom in our Archer King Empire View room was also surprisingly large, with a huge walk-in shower, delicious-smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as a useful vanity kit containing a shower cap, cotton pads, earbuds, and more.

There were also giant, fluffy towels and cosy bathrobes that made our stay even more enjoyable and homely; bathrobes in a hotel room just hit differently to dressing gowns back at home!

The staff throughout our stay were so kind and welcoming, the king-sized bed was beyond comfortable, and the features and amenities throughout the hotel were so very much appreciated, but there was just something so undeniably magical about falling asleep and waking up to the view of the Empire State Building, that has cemented Archer Hotel New York as one of my very favourites in NYC.

Archer Double Double Guest Room

On my second stay at Archer Hotel New York, I was lucky enough to bring along my mum and sister and we were very kindly treated to the Double Double Guest Room which features two super-comfy beds, a stunning black and white tiled bathroom, complete with luxury toiletries, Nespresso coffee machine, floor-to-ceiling windows, and more!

While the rooms aren’t necessarily the largest in New York City, they’re by no means small, and there was plenty of room for all three of us in the Double Double Guest Room.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the same Empire State Building view from our Double Double room as Matt and I did in the King Empire View room, but we could still see the very top of New York’s most famous building, and we also got to enjoy the remarkable views of it from the Spyglass Rooftop as well!

Spyglass – Archer Hotel Rooftop Bar

Stepping out of the elevator on the 22nd floor of Archer Hotel New York, you’ll be greeted with yet more incredible views of the emblematic building from the Spyglass Rooftop Bar; the Empire State appears to be so close, it feels like you could almost touch it!

We’ve been lucky enough to experience dozens of rooftop bars in NYC, but Spyglass might just have one of the very best views of the city’s most renowned building.

On the menu at Spyglass, you’ll find scrumptious cocktails (including the heavenly Come A Long Way and Masta Punch cocktails that we enjoyed), as well as plenty of delicious nibbles and shareable bites, such as pizza, sliders, seafood, fries, cheese fondue and much more.

Both hotel guests and visitors are welcome at Spyglass Rooftop Bar and while reservations aren’t essential, they are recommended, as the rooftop tends to get booked up quickly, particularly at night.

Opening hours of Spyglass Rooftop Bar at Archer Hotel New York:

  • Monday to Thursday, 4 PM – 11 PM (21+ only with valid ID)
  • Friday & Saturday, 4 PM – 12 AM (21+ only with valid ID)
  • Brunch available on Sunday & Saturday, 11 AM – 3 PM (open to all ages)

Visit the Spyglass website for menu details and reservations.

AKB Hotel Bar

If the dizzying heights of the Spyglass Rooftop Bar don’t appeal to you, you can remain firmly on the ground at the AKB Hotel Bar where you’ll also find an extensive cocktail menu, excellent happy hour deals, a full à la carte breakfast menu, plus so much more!

AKB can be found just off the lobby at Archer Hotel, so it’s a great place to grab a bite to eat for breakfast before heading out for the day, or on an evening for a late-night cocktail.

As part of our stay at Archer Hotel New York, my mum, sister, and I were very kindly treated to breakfast at the AKB Hotel bar on the final day of our stay, where my mum and I enjoyed the sunrise breakfast, while my little sister opted for the sourdough toast.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and while I usually prefer to eat breakfast at a local deli or bagel spot in the city, I was so grateful for the ease, convenience, and yumminess of the breakfast served in the AKB Bar!

Opening hours of AKB Hotel Bar at Archer Hotel New York:

  • À la carte breakfast – Daily, 7 AM – 11 AM
